How our Mobile Linked Personal Alarms Work when Calling Family & Friends

A personal alarm linked to a mobile phone that calls family and friends can give you and your loved one’s peace of mind if you want to keep your independence.

A personal alarm that contacts family and friends works by storing the telephone numbers of your nominated contacts in them. When you press the SOS button, the system will call the first name on the list. If there is no answer, it will go on to the second and the third nominated contact, and so on. Additionally, some of SureSafe’s personal alarms linked to a mobile phone will send SOS text messages to all nominated contacts. This means that everyone is alerted at the same time that help is needed.

SureSafe’s personal alarms that contact family and friends are a convenient and reliable method of staying in touch. Our panic button to call family is easily accessible, as it is worn on the body at all times, and when pressed it will trigger a call to your nominated contacts.

Get 24/7 peace of mind knowing your loved one can call family & friends at the touch of a button!

Get advanced protection with a fall alarm linked to a mobile phone.

Choosing a personal alarm that contacts family members rather than a monitoring centre does not mean that you have to sacrifice on the quality of the product to keep you or your loved one safe. SureSafe’s range of personal alarms linked to a mobile phone offers all the same great features that you can get with an alarm linked to a 24/7 monitoring centre. This can include being fully mobile for use outside of the home, GPS tracking to let people where you are when you need help, the ability to be able to talk directly through the pendant, as well as a fall alarm.

A fall alarm is a pendant or wristband that can detect falls and call for help, without the alarm user needing to push the personal panic button. This can be vital if you, or your loved one, is unconscious or immobile following a fall. Losing consciousness, or the ability to move, can regularly occur after a heavy fall, a heart attack, or a stroke. SureSafe has options for fall alarms linked to a mobile phone that help reduce this risk. Our alarms also feature a panic button for the elderly to press if they are conscious and can do so.

Why you should have a panic button to call family & friends

If you want to live at home and keep your independence, you will want to be able to get help quickly if you feel unwell or you have an accident.

According to the NHS, falls are a common risk amongst the elderly. They say one in three adults over the age of 65 and 50% of people over the age of 80 will have a fall during sometime during the year.

If you fall you may not have your mobile to hand and if you can’t get up to find it, you may be left immobile for hours until someone finds you. Being left immobile increases the risk of dehydration and hypothermia. Your muscle cells also begin breaking down very quickly if you can’t move.

Getting help quickly increases your chances of making a full and swift recovery. An alarm that calls family and friends makes this happen.

This company deserves the highest of recognitions. I dealt with a lady called Angela, she was extremely helpful, made the whole process of getting a fall alarm for my mum so easy. No hassle and very straight forward. I cannot thank you enough for all your help. I have no hesitation in recommending this company. First class throughout.

My grand daughter bought me an alarm for my birthday, I can talk through it and it tells the lovely people at suresafe if I have a fall and I can press a button. I can now walk my dog further and for longer. In a world gone mad with Covid, you can still be sure SureSafe will keep you safe,

My father (91) recently had a fall at home (he lives by himself) and he used the SureSafe button that he was wearing to call for help. They quickly contacted my sister-in-law but the phone line was bad and the connection could not be made. So SureSafe then called the local emergency services in my father's area and two police officers came to get him back on his feet. I would definitely recommend this company and their service for elderly people who may need help if they get into any difficulty.

Exceptional Customer Service and Excellent Product. This company have completely exceeded my expectation... I can not speak highly enough about them. They went over and above to ensure that was able to achieve my goal of receiving my Fall Safe urgently and have it set up in super fast time. I would recommend them in a heart beat. My father was really pleased with the alarm warn on the wrist which is totally waterproof which means he does not need to take it off. I could see him visibly calm just knowing that someone would be there should he have a fall....... and I actually slept for the first time in a week! Great product, so easy to set up (you just plug it in), simple instructions, had a message to test the system when we were ready, very polite service centre. 5 STARS!

I was unsure about getting a pendant alarm, but am so thankful I did. It gives utter peace of mind to family and friends, but also to me. I never worry about going walks on my own, even in isolated spots, as I know I can get help very speedily, should I be unwell. Having the satellite tracking system, and also the falls alert, gives peace of mind. The centre rings me if I forget to charge the device and they never mind if you ring by accident. The service is excellent and when I recently needed an item, it came within 24 hours. Thank you!

This is the 3rd alarm we've bought for our 90 year old mother from various companies and so far it is the most reliable. As she lives in a rural town, signal coverage has always been an intermittent problem but with her tracker now choosing the best from O2, EE and Vodafone, we can see exactly where she is all the time. A big improvement. SOS and fall alerts are working well too so well pleased. The company were quick to dispatch and help set up which was pretty easy. It could do with an app so you can view the routes the tracker has taken but the company say they are working on this. However by just sending a text to the tracker you can find out within seconds where she is, and when you phone it she can speak to us despite it being buried under her jumper when she's out for a walk.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question? Take a look at some of the common questions that people have before buying a SureSafe alarm:

Simply contact us and let us know any changes needed for your elderly alarm. You can call us on 0800 112 3201, or email us at [email protected].

No, not all elderly personal alarms are monitored, you can get alarms that call family directly. If you don’t have a 24/7 monitored alarm or one that is linked to our response centre, then you will be automatically connected to family once you’ve pressed the SOS button. SureSafe offer a range of alarms that allow you to connect with nominated contacts which can be family members, carers, or friends.

You choose your contacts, and their phone numbers are placed in the personal alarm system. When you press the SOS button the system will ring the first contact on your list. If that contact doesn’t answer the system will move on to the second contact and then, the third contact.

The elderly alarm will keep phoning your contact numbers until a member of your family answers. The phone number you have on your alarm can be seen by your contacts so they will know that it is you calling.

Some alarms won’t confuse a voicemail message with a genuine answer. If it gets voicemail messages it will ignore them and continue to ring your nominated numbers. Others send a text message to all contacts, to avoid voicemail being an issue.

The alarms with family and friends contact are the SureSafeGO and the SureSafe Personal Alarm.

The SureSafeGO is the best choice if you like to get out of the house. It has GPS tracking so your family can find out where you are if you get lost or become confused. You speak to your family through the personal alarm pendant.

The SureSafe Personal Alarm has a base unit that you plug into your telephone landline. When you press the SOS button you can talk to your family through the speaker. The speaker is integrated into the base unit. There is a 50-metre range on the personal alarm which means you can talk to the speaker even if you’re in another room or potentially outside in the garden.

Family monitored alarms work by having up nominated contacts phone numbers saved in the alarm system. You choose the people you want to contact should you have a problem. Your contacts can be family, friends, or carers.

Your alarm’s phone number is given to your contacts (either landline or mobile). When you press the SOS alarm for help your number comes up on your contact’s phone, so they will know it is you that’s calling.

If you feel unwell you can press the SOS button and the alarm will contact the first person on your list. If that person doesn’t answer, then the system will ring the second number and then the third number. It will keep ringing each number until it gets an answer.

We have options for alarms that can ignore voicemails if they answer, and keep dialling for help, and alarms that send a text to all contacts so voicemail is not an issue.

If you spend most of your time at home, then you could choose the SureSafe Personal Alarm which is available with no monthly fees.

If you have a fall alert personal alarm you don’t even need to press the SOS button if you have a fall. The pendant will recognise the fall and automatically contact a person on your list.

The only personal alarm with family monitoring and fall detection is the best selling SureSafeGO.

If you choose family monitoring, you won’t get support from our response centre. Your list of contacts will be responsible for giving you assistance when you need help. You therefore need to be confident that they are readily available 24/7, 7 days a week.

Your alarm will have a phone number that will show up when it calls for help. So, your contacts will always know it’s you calling. When you need help just press the call button or, if you fall, the fall detector will automatically call for help (where you choose an alarm with fall detection). In the event of an emergency, the alarm will text and/or call the nominated contacts in order until somebody answers (depending on the type of alarm you choose).

The advanced technology we use in our personal alarms makes staying connected easier than ever.
